MoSPI industrial survey: Andhra Pradesh ranks 6th, Telangana 7th
Neighboring Telangana secured the seventh spot with 13,937 factories in the latest central government survey.

Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the sixth-ranked state in India for the number of operational factories, according to the Annual Survey of Industries for 2024-25. The report, released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), states that Andhra Pradesh is home to 15,602 factories.
Neighboring Telangana closely follows in seventh place with 13,937 units. Tamil Nadu tops the national list with 41,221 factories, followed by Gujarat with 33,084 and Maharashtra with 27,879. Uttar Pradesh and Haryana took the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Nationally, the total number of factories grew from 2.60 lakh in 2023-24 to 2.67 lakh in 2024-25. Key sectors driving this manufacturing growth include basic metals, motor vehicles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and food products.
The state also performed strongly in international trade, ranking seventh in global exports. According to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Andhra Pradesh exported goods worth Rs 1.77 lakh crore, accounting for 4.57 per cent of India’s total exports of Rs 39.04 lakh crore. Telangana ranked eighth, contributing 3.18 per cent.
