Mancherial man hires hitmen to kill younger brother over property dispute
Police cracked the case after CCTV footage showed the victim drinking with a relative hours before he went missing.
Police in Telangana’s Mancherial district have arrested three men, including an elder brother, for the murder of a 40-year-old man over a property dispute.
Kudukala Srinivas, a resident of Neelwai village in Vemanapalli mandal, had gone missing on September 20. When he failed to return, his family lodged a complaint at the Neelwai police station the following day.
During the investigation, police recovered CCTV footage showing Srinivas drinking alcohol at a wine shop near Chennur bus stand with his distant relative, Godari Sammaiah. Upon questioning, Sammaiah confessed that Srinivas’s elder brother, Kudukala Rajesh, had paid Rs 2 lakh to have him eliminated over disputes regarding ancestral land and house plots.
Sammaiah and an accomplice, Kishtaswamy, lured Srinivas into the Somanapalli forest area under the pretext of digging for hidden treasure. There, Sammaiah attacked Srinivas with an axe, killing him on the spot. The accused then poured petrol over the body and set it on fire to destroy evidence before fleeing.
Jaipur Assistant Commissioner of Police Venkateshwarlu said all three accused have been remanded to judicial custody. Officers seized an axe, two motorcycles, mobile phones, blood-stained clothes, and Rs 60,000 in cash.
