HYDERABAD: With over 30 lakh devotees expected to visit the iconic Khairatabad Bada Ganesh during the 10-day Vinayaka Chavithi festivities, the Hyderabad Traffic Police on Saturday issued comprehensive traffic advisories, diversions, and transit guidelines to manage the massive footfall.
Following a field inspection of primary access routes, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis urged visitors to rely on public transit to prevent severe gridlocks around Central Hyderabad.
Key Traffic Guidelines & Vehicle Diversions
- Public Transport: Metro Rail services will run from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Metro passengers reaching Khairatabad station must exit strictly toward the pandal side to avoid pedestrian hazards near the 'Seven Temples' exit.
- Cab & Auto Aggregators: Drop-offs and pick-ups for Ola, Uber, and auto-rickshaws are strictly banned on the main carriageway between VV Statue and Nirankari. All ride aggregators must load and unload at the open ground near the MMTS station.
- Route Diversions: Commuter traffic will be diverted away from Rajdoot Lane, Mint Lane, and Bada Ganesh routes, rerouting drivers toward Telephone Bhavan, the Secretariat, and Khairatabad Flyover.
- Designated Parking: Primary parking is designated at NTR Marg (IMAX Ground, HMDA Lake View, E-Racing Ground) and Visweswarayya Bhavan, with Maktha Parking on Necklace Road serving as an overflow area.
Officials emphasized that darshan will commence daily at 6:00 AM, advising commuters to visit during weekday mornings to avoid peak evening and weekend crowds.
Around 500 police personnel will be deployed across major choke points to enforce barricading and maintain traffic flow. Darshan will officially conclude on September 23, with no public viewing permitted on September 24.
